Jerry Apps Featured at Friends Annual Meeting

The Friends of the L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library will host the program “Rural Wit and Wisdom,” presented by Jerry Apps, at their annual meeting on Tuesday, April 14 at 7 p.m. in the Eau Claire Room on the library’s lower level. This presentation focuses on remembering a time when life was simpler; we knew our neighbors, the one-room country school was the center of the community, we depended on the party-line telephone, and we bathed on Saturday night before going to town.

Jerry Apps is Professor Emeritus, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the author of The Great Sand Fracas of Ames County. He has recently completed two hour-long TV documentaries about farm life which aired nationally on PBS.

In addition to the program, the Friends will nominate new board members. The meeting is free and open to the public. No registration is required.
