Street Construction Project

TO: OWNERS AND RESIDENTS – Alley North of Hudson Street, Sixth Avenue to Seventh Avenue

DATE: May 28, 2015

SUBJECT: STREET CONSTRUCTION PROJECT – 2015-21

Construction of the alley north of Hudson Street, from Sixth Avenue to Seventh Avenue, is tentatively scheduled to begin on Monday, June 1, 2015. All construction will occur within alley right-of-way or utility easements, and will consist of removing the existing bituminous surface, storm sewer, grading, graveling, concrete alley approach repair, bituminous paving, and restoration adjacent to the alley.

The contractor for the work is Haas Sons, Inc. of Thorp, Wisconsin. They will have various sub-contractors working for them throughout the project.

The project will be supervised by the City Engineering Division, with Tim Pluth as Project Engineer. City inspectors will be on the job each day during construction and will answer any questions regarding the project.

Existing trees and shrubs, which conflict with the construction, will be removed by the contractor. If you have any questions about tree removal, please contact the project inspector or the Engineering Division.

Property owners planning on transplanting trees or saving existing fences, landscaping, or sprinkling systems located in the alley right-of-way should do so prior to the beginning of construction. The contractor cannot guarantee the condition of these items once construction begins.

The property owners are responsible for all watering and maintenance of new seed. Property owners are reminded to begin watering the seed soon after it is placed. Adequate water is essential for establishment of a root system.

Inconvenience to the residents will be kept to a minimum wherever possible, but there will be times during which automobile access to your property will not be possible. We anticipate completion by Friday, June 12, 2015, contingent upon weather conditions and delivery of construction materials.

For more information about this project, please call the Public Works office at (715) 839-4934. We look forward to working with you in the interest of a better street system for the City of Eau Claire.
