With the arrival of students for a new fall semester at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, comes the arrival of musical students. Smart musical students. They can think and march and play piccolo at the same time.

For almost as long as there has been a UWEC, there has been a BMB — a Blugold Marching Band. The band has been practicing at double time for their first official choreographed appearance at the inaugural home football game on September 9th. I was there for their first practice together, at Carson Park, to get the measure of their progress, and their excitement.
