What is Sound?

Micah: If a tree falls in the forest and nobody is around to hear it. does it make a sound?

Austin: Yes

Luke: Oh yeah

Justin: Well it makes a vibration and a pressure release, but not technically a sound. Because a sound is what’s perceived, right? Like a sound is (claps) There’s an action happening ans they’re colliding and it’s making a wave that your ear is interacting with, right? So the existence of sound is just how your ear interprets it. If your ear is not there to hear it, then it’s not actually a sound, it’s just a wave.
