Fiber Arts Festival VI
The Chippewa Valley Museum is hosting its sixth annual Fiber Arts Festival on Saturday, February 21 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This family-friendly event is open to all ages and celebrates the work of area fiber artists and enthusiasts. Visitors can watch more than 30 local fiber artists demonstrate their skills in many mediums, including weaving, rug hooking and braiding, spinning, quilting, knitting, tatting, and more.
Visitors are welcome to bring along their own projects, either in progress or completed, to participate in an idea exchange with others. Children and their grown-ups are invited to try out a variety of hands-on learning experiences, including over a dozen different activity stations ranging from finger weaving to paper quilting, and more.
New in 2015! Enjoy the debut of CVM’s Always Beading exhibit featuring both traditional and contemporary Ojibwe and Ho-Chunk art. This latest installment may inspire museum goers to sign up for future beadwork and folk art classes following its opening. Watch the museum’s website at www.cvmuseum.com for updates.
Visitors are also encouraged to venture outdoors for this event’s second annual Yarn Bombing Outdoor Exhibit and Judged Competition. Guest judge Susan Sveda-Uncapher returns to award prizes for the top entries in the categories of color, design, and craftsmanship. Entries will be displayed on the grounds in front of the museum’s main building.
Admission: $5 for adults; $2 for ages 5-17; 4 and under free. No cost for Chippewa Valley Museum members. Hours: 11am – 4pm.
